I am pleased to announce I am offering a “Painting in Italy” Palette Knife Workshop - September 9 - 11, 2013.

Are we going to Italy to paint? Well, kind of.

My family and I will be traveling to Italy in August for two weeks. We will be traveling to northern Italy, Tuscany and the Italian Coast. Many of my students have asked me to host a workshop in Italy. But I think the costs are prohibitive for most artists. So instead, I am going to do the next best thing. I am going to bring Italy to my students! I cannot wait to share the hundreds (or thousands) of photos from my trip! So join me to experience “painting in Italy” in an affordable way. The workshop will be held in my Carriage House Studio in south Pasadena, CA.

On day one will be painting in Tuscany. Using photos taken from my trip, our day starts off with a unique painting demo in which I demonstrate painting with a palette knife. This demo helps students understand the basic approach and guides them to success using a simple step by step approach. We will focus on mixing the warm Italian hues and understanding values. And ... we will paint while listening to some wonderful Italian music!

On the second day we will all paint together and enjoy another painting demo. Today we will focus on using the palette knife to create visual interest and highlighting the focal point in your paintings as we explore the Italian coast and the beaches such as Cinque de Terra. That evening we will all enjoy a gourmet Italian meal at my home, cooked by yours truly!

The third day will be spent painting your own palette knife painting (using inspirational photos from Northern Italy such as Lake Como) with one on one instruction at your easel.
Join me for this authentic palette knife painting in Italy workshop! Click here for more information and to register for this Italian experience.
